Coronavirus and your Business!
How to market your business during this tough time….
I had a function booking of 135 they cancelled, the tours won’t be running this week as loads of guests cancelled, sponsors have now pulled out, we’re getting call after call from the public cancelling accommodation bookings …… this is going to keep happening.
It’s reported that tourism is already down 30%, I personally know 3 men who were told their jobs will cease soon as the business cannot support them. A recent visit to a restaurant shocked me in how empty it was. The domino effect will be massive.
BUT I feel in part you can turn this around, albeit just a little but a little may be the difference in a booking or not or a job loss or not.
So, BE THE SOLUTION!
EVERYTHING in marketing is based on EMOTION. So be EMOTIVE.
Two key factors come into play here:
- When creating your social media posts, your marketing campaigns and your promotions solve the concerns of the people before they ask.
- Explain that jobs, families, mortgages and self worth depends on this business and to consider this before cancelling or not booking.
Solution Marketing can include, we have sanitiser’s, we have plenty of toilet paper, our staff have always practiced good hygiene, now were over the top about it. Explain in dot form or in a paragraph what your business is doing to halt the spread of the virus. I’ve heard many businesses say at networking functions what their plans are BUT they forget to TELL THEIR CUSTOMERS.
Sharing with your customers your plans and procedures. By being so honest in your marketing about the concerns of the business itself, the staff and sharing the solutions you have in place will result in a number of people turning around from their negative thoughts and then becoming confident in using your business.

I’d like to address a few things about the CRISIS we are facing in the world today, THE CORONA VIRUS.
It is possibly now as close as Balidivs (this is, of course, not confirmed yet), the tourist industry in Rockingham is already suffering with people cancelling tours, sometimes entire busloads of groups. The knock-on effect will be devastating, our restaurants will suffer soon as will other smaller businesses.
We want to stay safe, I totally get that.
I can promise you, we are a clean and sanitized business, all our bed linen (towels and sheets) are professionally laundered, we sanitize and sterilize all surfaces and instruments, we have always done this not just now when facing this virus.
PS: we have a toilet paper.
Not only am I concerned about my business being affected but also as a resident of the community and how other businesses are being affected.
